Hot Poker, 2011
laser-cut archival inkjet print, cushion mounted on archival mountboard
edition of 50, signed and numbered on front
42.2 x 49cm (mount size)
Like many of Parker’s works, the image is born from an initially destructive process. Parker folds layers of A4 paper, then pierces the paper with a burning hot poker. Once unfolded, a brutal yet strangely beautiful image is revealed.
This edition is typical of the quiet humour that can be found in Parker’s work. Parker has created an elegant and playful limited edition print exploring the traditions of trompe l’oeil using new laser-cutting technology.
